Something looks wrong when you fight w/out basic bodily protection. Even though the Georgian MIL got slapped around, it takes more than just equipment to win a conflict. Putin & his gang should be worried that "his" army didnt show-up dressed for the occasion on the world-stage, knowing it'd be captured on TV world-wide--Unless they meant to be seen this way? Most Russian tanks can purposely spray oil onto the exhaust to create smoke to hinder engagement by direct fire and laser munitions. Even the few tracked vehicles seemed to be in poor condition if the smoking exhaust is an indication. I've seen TV documentaries studying the nationalist youth group organizations that are trying to get the youth to marry and have kids for the glory of the motherland. In one case they provided ministers to marry them at the events free of charge and tents to jump right into and go to work on the spot. Population decline is a concern. The Russians have always emphasized quantity over quality and utilize mass numbers to overwhelm the enemy. You think they care about their conscripts? Doubt it. It could also be that the troops just don't have the discipline to stay in proper uniform. Not surprising.
