$7 Billion THAAD Sale To UAE Likely

$7 Billion THAAD Sale To UAE Likely

The United Arab Emirates, formerly known as the seven Trucial states, are likely to win congressional approval of a $7 billion purchase of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense anti-ballistic missile system.

A congressional aide told me today that Congress is unlikely to oppose the sale, which would be the main obstacle standing in the way of the system’s first foreign sale. Congress has been notified of the pending sale.

The purchase stands as stark testament to the level of fear that Iran has generated throughout the Gulf states and in Saudia Arabia as it tests increasingly longer range ballistic missiles.

A tip of the hat to my colleague Jim Wolf of Reuters, who broke the story late Monday.

I can’t believe this.

This is the Bush most outstqnding example of stupidity, so far. why not just give Iran the dam missles and have done with it.
Anothother example of the Bush family warmongering for a buck, I have many pages of documentation to there activities where the Bush family has sided with the enemey to make a buck. how much of a bribe do you think the family trust got for this deal.
Lets elect the coward Mcane so we can have 4 more years of the same kind of activity.

Read the article again dummy…

The U.S.A. is selling the missile defense system to the U.A.E. (a U.S. ally in the region) so that they can protect themselves FROM IRANIAN AGGRESSION. The U.S.A. is NOT selling any technology to Iran.

This sale is a good thing… that’s $7 billion dollars of new money coming into the U.S.A.

Cheers

hay we have that same system in kawait manned buy us soldgers and protected by them and the kawaity military and there has been no problems there and we are very much welcomed there and the same will hold to u.a.e.they also want protection from IRAN\SOVIOT UNION who are buddy buddy w/IRAN. it not a bad thing hell we send our troops there when they need a L.W.O.P. SO ITS NOT BAD THERE AT ALL BEEN THERE ABOUT 10 TIMES

Mcan a coward??????… He fights as an American soldier … becomes a POW… survives daily beating and you call him a coward…

OK your name fits you well…

who side you on??? everytime Democrats are elected are military gets screwed!!!

I agree sale and take their money so they can fight their wars among themselves…

To the dumb Marine,
You obviously really are a dumb Marine and I suggest that you refine your name to just Dumb and STUPID BHO fan. And to Michael I agree with your comments but buddy do a spell check next time before you submit

I have to agree with jojorocks let them fight among their self and lets all watch from our living rooms while eating popcorn and watch the fire works. 7 billion is a a nice capital gain to watch a much needed fireworks show.

At first glance, one’s response is, “Oh, no– not another sale of our military hardware to an Arabic state!”. But this is an anti-missile system. If the UAE ever decides to become unfriendly to us, we would just have to figure out a way to get past or around the system in a case of intervention. In the meantime, we can use the money, and a sale to a friendly nation seeking to defend itself against the nut job in Iran is probably not the worst thing in the world.
And yes, the 1st family is likely to profit in some way.

A number of years ago, Iran was an ally with USA, and they bought a load of F-14 and F-5 fighters along with some other military equipment. Iran did a 180-degree turn. Now, the former enemy, Iraq has done a 180-degree turn. Who knows what will happend next in UAE and Saudi-arabia.

I agree with everyones comments about the dumb Marine. Calling McCain a coward after serving his country as a Naval Pilot over Vietnam (22 Missions) and being a POW for almost 6 years. McCain also went on serve in uniform for 21 years. This Dumb Ass Marine who cannot even spell properly shows his ignorance. Never mentioned Barrack Hussein Obama service in Uniform becasuee there was none. Nata ! Zilch!
