Slaving the .50 and the 7.62 on the roof to the crew inside isa good idea. The CROWS system is installed on Humvees, why not on MBT’s? The US can learn from this. Plus, Hamas and Hezbollah are 2 different kinds of animals. One is well supplied by IRAN, the other is not.

Dear Galloglas;
Cut the right wing b.s. and stick to military analysis…or are you just betraying a facile knowledge of the field and trying to be a military Rush Limbaugh on a blog. After 8 years of right wing Bush — Cheney our whole armed forces are in a mess. I have fought in Vietnam under a Democrat and in Kuwait under a Republican with a real war record…and then in Iraq for his son who couldn’t even do a full 6 years in the TX Air Guard. Not to mention his VP who skipped out with 5 deferments. So Galloglas if you can’t stick to real military analysis confine your diatribes to calling Rush and other radio right wingers. By the way, Rush and skipped out of RVN with a medical deferement. Sorry to burst your bubble, you can’t write so I guess calling right wing radio is your real forte!

I believe the armored bulldozers plowing straight through houses and buildings to make a new tank road for the IDF armor help defeat the Hamas emplaced beforehand IED.
The IDF simply went where they wanted and nothing stood in their way.
A tactic American forces Somalia should have used in Mog/ blackhawk down but had NO TANKS much less bulldozer’s.

I know American forces should study this and make plans to change vehicles, weapons and tactics But I see at least five problems with this plan;
1. Obama
2. Biden.
3. Pelosi.
4. Reid.
5. Clinton
I’d try to conserve every spare part and every thouroughly operational systems. Upgrades and new stuff won’t be around for a long, long four to seven years.
The one vehicle upgrade should go on ASAP is a roof mounted 60 mm mortar or 40 mm GL to fire short rounds straight up, to come straight down against close infantry. The remote MG is another must have.
Next war, maybe because this one is about done.

Hamas didn’t have Korronets! Hezbollah did.
Plus some bone head thought crossing a river
with the hulls up was a great idea. The bottom of the tanks are thinner. I think they lost 15 tanks from fire. The Israeli brain power was in Iraq at the time. Hamas doesn’t have any money. Hezbollah
gets Iranian OIL money. AND they get some RPGs
with the anti armor ammo. Not the generic RPG-7he export crap. But the good stuff. And some heavy AT. mines. Hezbollah lives like Kings. Hamas lives like rats.

This is fine as long has you are on the desert 10 miles from you base I wonder How the IDF system would work if the mission from the President was to Project 10 combat brigades for 2–3 yrs to the Congo to fight an Insurgency in the mud of the Congo river over a area the size of Texas Wonder how there 50–100 ton armor would do in the jungle.

The article’s subject is more indicative of the fact that Hamas fighters are in reality no more than a very patriotic police force. They certainly aren’t much better equipped.

Also indicative of a lack of resources and lack of training is a failure to apply low-level counter-armor techniques like the notorious shaped charges. Israeli armor seemed to be ‘channelized’ in built-up area, to access where use of the main gun could be maintained. As such it should have been targettable for close-range IEDs — had there been any.

Taking three weeks and failing to go through gaza ‘like a dose of salts’, as was done in hours in ’47, ’54 and ’67 is indicative that something has changed for the Israelis, and not for the good.

Thats why we seize airfields, so we can turn it against the enemy. Iam sure a Stryker MGS could hold on until the heavy stuff is brought in. TOW & Javelin can knock out heavy armor too, as seen in N. Iraq.

Greg; re the next-to-last paragraph. Keep in mind that Israel does not have to transport their equipment across the world, with the logistics that entails. You can place only so much weight on an aircraft or ship and that weight requires fuel to move once in the area of concern.
