The difference is that Lynn will be operating out in the open under intense scrutiny from the DoD Secretary, Congress and the President not to mention the press corps. Why not assume he has the skills and integrity necessary to do the job or he wouldn't have been nominated? Lynn has been a lobbyist within the last two years. Is it so hard to understand that he is not eligible in light of the legislation prohibited from serving? Many things may be brought up to justify his appointment. But it can not change that he was a lobbyist for a defense contractor. Why have a law that needs to be explained?
