The US did it after WWI and was unprepared for WWII. Immediate drawdown after WWII left it unprepared for Korea. So and so forth - Vietnam, Iraq I, and now Iraq II. We know where the terrorist mainly hang out - Afghanistan. Just too afraid to really go in there because there is so much interplay with Pakistan. India is waiting for Pakistan to fall. Russia and China are the enemies becaue they provide modern weapons to others. The others fight the surrogate wars against US-armed allies. Can you say Israel versus the Middle East? I don't need F-22, F-35, eleven carriers, lots of tankers and freight haulers - until the next bell rings. It's just like police and firemen. Don't want to pay for them to sit around when there is no action. When there is trouble at my house or on my street, I want hundreds to show up to quell the problem NOW!

We are starting down the path to the next war by downsizing the military and pulling back from the rest of the world. Well cut the defense budget might not be too much of a problem we will still buy lots of overprise toys. But the real fact is Americans made there choic and they will have to live with it. And by the way when one talks about partners who? France, Germany, japan please these countries don't give a damn about America. Maybe we should look the other way and go back to Mutal Assured Destruction. Tell the world whoever attacks American is done period. The day it happens the Nuke will fly and thats it. Whould you attack america then?

Well what did you expect when a Socialist was elected President , that is why we got in this trouble in the first place. Any expert want to tak on Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, SCHIP and now the new TRILLION dollar for "healthcare" socialization.Provide for the Common Defense is in the Constitution. Can someone please point to the "provide mortgages to people who can't pay for them or healthcare for everyone" clause of the constitution. It would be funny if it wasn't tragic that only defense comes under scutiny. I am a defense hawk but I would accept reasonable spending restraint IF THE REST OF THE BUDGET WAS CUT and not being massively expanded.

I am waiting for the experts to come forward with similiar cuts to programs that are not defense and are in fact unconstitutional.
