That'd just increase how many enemies we have to fight tenfold... because then it wouldn't be just terrorists we're fighting, but innocent people simply defending themselves. That's how the terrorists recruit: they paint us to be a threat to even the innocent people who meant us no harm in the first place. And when we have cases of servicemen stealing from the locals, raping their women, or executing innocent people for no reason, it makes it that much easier for them to get new recruits.

The reasons for the limits and restrictions is to give the enemy less propaganda to use against us to reduce local, home side, and international support for the cause as well as for recruiting more terrorists to fight against us.

It wouldn’t bode well for our forces if we just ran through the Middle East shooting anyone that has brown skin, doesn’t speak English, and wears a cloth wrapped around their head. I'd say if this is a so called war against the terrorists who killed more 4000 innocent americans in 9/11, we should not give any limits or restrictions to it. How else can we win this?

The enemy is different because they live their whole life in fighting. Darn, this SWA adventure is turning me into a curmugeon. Sounds like Col Forrester is doing an advertisement for his newest phamphlet. Actually, if the Afghan Taliban will stand and fight - this is great news! That plays to our strengths in fire support, manuever, etc. If they will just stand there and take it we can use artillery, helicopters, etc to nail them. The worst news we could get would be if he was to say that the Taliban was gonna adopt classic insurgent tactics of ambush and fade away. Still, our best efforts are to go after the experts who build the detonators for the IEDs. Those people are few, highly trained, and hard to replace.

Oh no, here comes the cynic in me again!
