The stimulus should have been larger according to many economists, yes, but whose fault is that? I'm sure Obama could have pushed harder for a larger stimulus, but I doubt the American people or the GOP would have let him - if you look at the overblown reaction people are having to the deficit and the way most react to nonsensical analysis if repeated over and over again by news agencies that don't have a clue about complex issues, this would have cost him even more. Of course, you can't expect people to understand these things, search for other sources of information rather than Fox News, Drudge Report and the Heritage Foundation, or even understand that the future is nearly impossible to predict. TARP did rescue the world from a financial meltdown, so it really wasn't that bad considering the alternative (also note that people can't predict the future and TARP was a response to a problem that had to be dealt with IMMEDIATELY). Here's how I know you REALLY don't know what your talking about... large deficits in times of high to normal GDP growth and large deficits in times of low GDP growth and recessionary conditions ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. StratCom was Colin Powell's brainchild, so you know they have not accomplished a thing in 17 years. Over $6 billion wasted and they cannot account for over $2.5 billion of their pork, lost to their notorious corruption, nepotism and mismanagement. Their comptroller and his cabal should be in Leavenworth doing 20 years of hard labor.

US Strategic Command is the worst pork barrel meister in US military history. $500 million a year thrown down the drain since 1992. Just another example of a self-described do-gooder spewing misinformation and recklessly throwing out allegations without foundation. No one listened to Wheeler when he worked in the Senate and no one should listen to him now! He is a jerk!

Despite apparently working on the Hill for a number of years, Mr. Wheeler obviously has no understanding at all of the types of accounts, the scoring associated with each, and that you can’t move $2B in O&M to fund earmarks in R&D or Procurement within budget rules. Go back through his voting record and see how many spending bills he voted for which has put us trillions futher into the red.

Dan, you’re talking about the same president who as a Senator voted for the barely oversighted TARP bill which handed hundreds billions of dollars to badly run banks and as president signed off on the trillion dollar “stimulus” which has yet to do anything other than spend money on Congress’ pet projects. In my opinion he isn't pushing hard enough. But he is probably the very first president to openly oppose this disgusting practice. Thank goodness we have a new administration.
Respectfully,
Daniel Russ
