China Says Boo To DoD Report

China Says Boo To DoD Report

The U.S. military’s annual report on the Chinese military “ignored objective facts,” exagerated the threat China poses to Taiwan and should be abolished. If ever there was need for proof that China will become increasingly assertive as its economy grows and its military capabilities improve, this is it.

Here’s what the Defense Ministry’s newly appointed spokesman, Geng Yansheng, said:

China’s military development is reasonable and appropriate, and is aimed to protect its national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, as well as keep apace with the rapid military development in the world.

We ask the U.S. side to view China’s national defense and military build-up from an objective and just perspective, put an end to comments and conduct that might compromise mutual trust between Chinese and U.S. military forces, and stop issuing the so-called Chinese military and security development report, so to create a favorable environment for the improvement and development of Sino-U.S. military relations.

The spokesman said China’s modernization is normal for a country of its size and that it pursues a purely defensive security policy and will neither enter into an arms race nor threaten militarily another country.

The story appeared in Xinhua, the government’s official news outlet, making it as close to official policy as one can get. Buzz readers will remember this week’s opinion piece by Dean Cheng of the Heritage Foundation in which he argued that, while China’s wealth is diluted by dint of its enormous population, its economy is growing impressively in real terms. Combine this with the slow and painful economic descent of Japan, China’s main regional counterweight, and one can see why the United States has reinvigorated its efforts to win friends and influence people in the Pacific region.

Of course, the Chinese spokesman may not believe that Congress, which ordered the Pentagon to produce the report in the first place, cannot be told by the executive branch to shut up. After all, China’s executive branch would have no such problems.

china don’t search one military enemy like USA for have power, they use economy for one power

Yes, we’ve seen the peace loving peoples republic’s policies in Tibet.

Aeroxavier — you know your notes are confusing and garbled? I speak parts of several languages but never post in short responses in any language other than English. We cannot understand you. I would happily speak to you in Spanish or French or German but it does not work to communicate this way. Your English is not good enough. This does not allow use of common Spanish characters.

I agree with CharlesHouston. It is not at all clear what you are trying to say.

At a guess, you might be trying to say that China is not trying to become a military superpower. Rather, they plan to project power by being an economic superpower?

Lets not be fooled. China is doing everything it can to prove to the World that communism is good and that a country can become a leading military power as well as a financial empire under this type of leadership. We need to maintain our leading edge in technology by at least 15–20 years of China’s.

I think that the artist of the picture above (do I see Chinese characters in the lower right corner?) inspired himself on a very similar, suggestive promotional poster for the 2001 movie “Pearl Harbour” that shows a Japanese bomb tumbling down onto the “U.S.S. Arizona”, straight from above.

Freudian slip?

Hey, maybe that Chinese patriot wasn’t even thinking of U.S. American aircraft carriers at all, but of others!

I don’t know about the artists influences, but it’s hard to have an “objective and just perspective” while looking at a picture of chinese ordinance about to impact the deck of a carrier loaded with Tomcats and Hornets.

to h*** with what China thinks. They are a threat, a BIG one!!! That is why we need to get away from them economically by owing them money.

Good Afternoon Folks,

I can see that the PRC is not happy with this assessment, I think they fain to understand that this is a political document and a marketing pitch for the defense industry. No one pays any attention to these,

The same though is true of the United States we have nearly zero sensitivity to the PRC’s domestic politics.

For the American right wing this is a little poke in the eye toward the the yellow hoard wants to invade the United States, from the PRC this confirms what the conservative Maoist, extremist elements are saying in the PRC, just more proof that the war mongering United States only wants war with the PRC.

To FFB. If you want to see how how hard hitting a moving carrier at sea, you might look up the percentage of gravity bombs dropped by Japanese aircraft in WW II aimed at moving carriers and there actual hits on those carriers.

Whose to say that we (USA) not only have a device that can not only jam the trajectory of their missiles, but can reverse their course back to its origin.

In that case China or for that matter anyone with a missile should be aware of our true capabilities.

Formula — have you ever read anything about Communism or even Socialism? China is a common authoritarian dictatorship, which does pretend to be a Communist country. They have a competitive, open market. I wish they would become Communist — as they did during the days of the Red Guard and the Gang of Four. That way they would be absorbed in internal strife and would be totally non– threatening to our position in the Pacific.

GLC — hey, you can’t go off those meds so suddenly. You gotta taper off. Come back when you can speak coherently.

Come folks get you heads out of the sand! China & India will become superpowers among EU and South American Group. As in history people see money first and then show weakness which has showen results such as NAZI Germany. Mind you, the USA Empire is just another in loneline in history which crumbles under debt and its allies jumping ship. China, will become a powefull nation/Empire if the economic sistuation doesnot effect its local issues which the Communist Party always uses harsh treament do really think they would not stop there if it threatens it powershift?

Did you mean WRITE in a more coherent manner.

To CharlesHouston,

Hate to break it you Colonel but Communism and a countries politics are two quite different things. As far as “state” Socialism goes, other they in North Korea and Myanmar it would be hard to find any place in the world where it exists today.

As for the Colonels statement on governments, over the course of history “authoritarian dictatorships” seems to be the norm, by far the largest number have been way to the right on the conservative scale and had a hereditary King as the head of of government.

The sate planned parametric Socialists theories of Marx and Engels are pretty much dead, for all purposes they died with the Soviet Union in 1991. Market Capitalism died with the events of 2008. Smith and Ricardo never envisioned the trading of “derivatives” or the existence of economic units to big to fail. For Capitalism to function firms must be permitted to fail, that leave room for new firms.

A side bar here. Recently there was an article in the financial press called “Buyout Firms Eye Defense Purchases” On the recent post on the size of the Navy an interesting statement.

“…the most likely buyer for Northrop Gruman Corp.‘s. naval division is a private-equity firm,…” Translation the shipyards of NG will be broken up in equity sales and the real estate sold off for private development.

This will put a serious dent in the American capacity to build ships.

One rather interesting thing about the Soviet five year plans from 1933 to 1963 is that their goals were largely meet and even in most cases exceeded. The problem was the state planners didn’t set the correct goals that would have let the system survive. To many tanks, war ships and fighters in a closed economy and not enough food and consumer products.

I won’t go into the dynamics of the new world economy because it mostly at this point deals with the distribution and redistribution of capita and the creation of capital. To those who might think they know this subject I DID NOT use the phrase allocation.

The creation of capital along with government are problems that neither Smith or Marx addressed.

The world has become a single economy and it is a market economy. The two new economies are either a Socialist Market or a Democratic Market. And the difference between the two is the point where government investment becomes private capital.

One interesting item here is taxes. The more a government is invested in a firm the more it shares in the profits as equity holders and thus the less in has to collect in taxes.

ALLONS,

And the “inherently good and peaceful” U.S.A. justify their own invasions and scale-busting, never-ending arms race with which proven threat/s?

GLC — We all assume that someone who is inventing an impossible device for adding enormous energy to something like a missile (without touching it) must not communicate in any manner, coherently. If you say that you wish you would write more coherently, that is fine by me. If we knew what “jam the trajectory of their missiles” meant we might be able to help you.

Well the do gooder’s seem focus on fairy dust attitude towards international relations and insult others because it doesnot fit their agenda!

The introllerance of these Holier_Than_Thou’s… Shocking!

Haiden — what is your native language?

China is interested to expand the forces in Southeast Asia because there are good costs in long run. With US just another investings with larger amount economy.

What did people expect China to say?!

Hey! At least aero is trying! : )

I’ve seen Chinese government bloggers invade tech sites too. The Buzz would be a major target.

Every once and a while, you run into someone who is legit, and doesn’t know the Great Firewall of China is watching their every move. I should think this site is probably blocked from everyday Chinese citizens anyway.

See Dick run. See Jane run. Do you know Dick?

I like Sally. I like Jane. Do You know Dick?

China will beat all bad guys who just want to exploit but never think of contribution, with the center of the world shifting from US to it,it’s just the very time.
