Brendan McGarry is a defense reporter and associate editor for Military.com who specializes in computer assisted reporting. Before joining Military.com, Brendan was a defense reporter at Bloomberg News where he covered war-zone contracting, military space launch and other issues. Previously, he worked at Gannett Government Media Corp. As a staff writer and database editor there, he helped produce special projects on such topics as the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, the rising use of pain and psychiatric medication in the military, and disparities in the number of top valor medals awarded during the current conflicts.
His work has been cited by The New York Times, Wired.com and other news organizations. He has appeared on FOX News and other television and radio networks. He received a bachelor’s degree in English from the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, N.Y., and a master’s degree in journalism and public affairs from American University in Washington, D.C.
Matthew Cox has been a defense reporter since 1998. He covers all the services, but keeps a close eye on Army weapons development and procurement, body armor testing, camouflage, ammunition as well as readiness and training issues.
The bulk of Matthew’s experience comes from working 12 years for Army Times. He traveled to Afghanistan and Iraq numerous times from 2002 to 2008, covering Stryker and light infantry units in combat. Matthew also spent four years in the U.S. Army during the second half of the 1980s, serving as an infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Division.
Bryant Jordan is an associate editor and White House correspondent for Military.com. Bryant covers all corners of the military arena, is an expert on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” issues, religious proselytizing and other ongoing military policy issues. He has covered Air Force support missions during the Kosovo War and in 2006 the aero-medical evacuation mission out of Balad Air Base, Iraq.
A journalist since 1979, Jordan also covered stories in Lebanon, Gaza and Morocco. During the Vietnam War he was assigned to 15th Admin. Co., 1st Cavalry Division, Bien Hoa Army Base. Before joining Military.com Jordan was a staff writer and deputy news editor for Military Times newspapers in Springfield, Va.
Richard Sisk has more than 40 years experience in journalism as a reporter and editor for the wire services and the N.Y. Daily News. He has embedded with U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, and reported from Beirut, Tel Aviv, Bosnia, Kosovo, Panama, Haiti, Guatemala, Northern Ireland, Vietnam, Eritrea and other conflict zones. He has also covered five presidential campaigns while working from Washington, D.C.
Sisk was born in Brooklyn and is a 1965 graduate of LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., with a degree in political science. He served with the 2nd Battalion Fourth Marines in Vietnam in 1967-68.
