For the United States

For Australia

  • Contact the merchant: Ask the merchant for a refund. If the merchant is a scammer, it won’t be of much help.
  • Apply for Chargeback: If you’ve been scammed on any online store, you are eligible for applying for a cashback. Contact your Credit Card provider for the same.
  • Time Limits: In Australia, there are specific time limits ranging from 45 to 120 days after the transaction during which you can apply for a chargeback.
  • Rejection Of Chargeback: Unlike some countries, you can raise a dispute against your bank if you think they’ve wrongfully rejected your claim with the help of The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA).

For Canada

  • Dispute the transaction: If you’ve been scammed, you’ll likely not get any response from the merchant. In that case, the ideal thing to do would be to raise a dispute.
  • Contact your Credit Card provider: Contact your credit card provide and raise a dispute and file a complaint.
  • Provide evidence of the issue: Provide all proof of your transaction so your provider can confirm that you’ve been scammed.
  • Contact your bank: The dispute can also be raised by directly contacting the bank.
  • Wait for response and refund: If all the details check out and your return is authorized, you’ll receive it in some time.

For the United Kingdom

  • Contact the merchant: Before raising any dispute, it’s best to ask the merchant for a refund. If the merchant refuses, then take any other steps.
  • Consumer Credit Act: There are some laws in the UK which protect customers from scams. Among them is the Consumer Credit Act. Under section 75 of the same, the Credit Card provider must give you a refund if you didn’t receive the goods or products you made payment for as they’re also held responsible for the breach in security.
  • Other methods: There are different laws that that can help you get a refund if you’ve paid from any source other than cash.
